Award: Doctor of Philosophy (Natural Resources and Environment)
Degree Options:
Candidates for the Ph.D. degree may select one of two options in order to fulfill the Graduate School requirements: a research based or a coursework based program.
- Research based program (Type 1.1 and 1.2)
For Master degree holder, who interest in the program by research (3 years program, total 48 credits)
- Coursework based program (Type 2.1 and 2.2)
For Master degree holder, who interest in the program by coursework and research (3 years program, total 48 credits) or Bachelor degree holder, honor, who interest in the program by coursework and research (4 years program, total 72 credits).

Credits Transfer:
The courses to be transferred must have been taken within the past 5 years. Graduate students will take at least 1 academic year to complete the degree. For more information, please visit https://sites.google.com/site/graduatesnueng/.
Admission Criteria:
- A bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or its equivalent in Natural Resources and Environment, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Technology, Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Science, Soil Science, Hydrology, Sciences, Forestry, Geography, and relevant sciences from an accredited institution
- Cumulative GPA at graduation of 3.25 or higher (Master degree holder) and 3.5 or higher (Bachelor degree holder) and work-experience in relevant sciences or academia at least 5 years for research based program
Program Requirements: For all Ph.D candidates, the following are required.
- Fulfillment of the time required
- Completion of all the credits requirement
- Passing the English Proficiency Criteria
- Passing Qualification Examination
- Passing the Oral Defense of the Dissertation
- Requirement of one full paper in a peer-reviewed national or international journal
Application Guidelines: Complete all the application form, include all of the following materials
- Application forms (can be downloading at http://www.acad.nu.ac.th/acad_admission/ and https://interregis.nu.ac.th/)
- 1,000 Baht non-refundable application fee
- English Proficiency certificate
- A photograph with dimensions of 1 inch x 1 inch, no more than 6 months old at the date of application
- A photocopy of the official transcript, the official diploma or diploma certificate and the National ID card
- Statement of purpose consisting of proposed research topic, objective and conceptual framework (The proposal must be accepted by a department faculty for their future supervisory.)
English Proficiency certificate are required for all graduated program:
English proficiency certificate is required for applicants who are not native English speakers at application and completion. Applicants must have a minimum score of 500 for CU-TEP, or at least 500 for the paper based /173 for the computer based/61 for the internet based TOEFL, or at least 5.0 for IELTS, or at least 60-64 for Cambridge Placement Test online (B2). The score should be obtained within 2 years prior to application.

Selection criteria: The selection is based on the applicant's academic record, English proficiency. Admission will be favored by a successful interview to evaluate the applicant's motivation, leadership, problem-solving skills, professional attitude and morals.
Financial information:
Expenses: Approximate total cost per graduate student 200,000 Baht ($US 6,300)/3 years (Thai student), 299,000 Baht ($US 10,000)/3 years (International student) including the tuition, fees and health insurance. This cost excludes the expense for special studies, accommodation and transportation.
Financial aid:
- Financial support for research studies and thesis is awarded by the Graduate School. The application deadlines are January-February and April-May, respectively.
- Some teaching assistantships are granted by the Faculty of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment.
- A research assistantship may be provided by faculty members with commissioned research projects.
